Rens Huisman (Treasurer)

-Senior policy advisor at the Zuiderzeeland Regional Water Authority 

 

Rens holds two degrees in the environmental sciences. In the mid nineties he finished his bachelor study at the Rijkshogeschool IJsselland of Deventer with a speciality in environmental policy and -management. In the late nineties he obtained his Masters degree in environmental policy in Europe and waterquality and aquatic ecology at the Wageningen University. After his studies Rens worked for the Noorderzijlvest Regional Water Authority and since 2000 for the Zuiderzeeland Regional Water Authority in Lelystad. The main tasks of a Regional Water Authority is dyke control, waterquantity and -quality control and the protection of the aquatic life. At the moment Rens is a senior policy advisor. His task is to advice the Board, elaborate plans, implement (inter)national directives, etc. Recently, he became the project manager of 'international policy and cooperation' within the organisation.Social additional positions:Rens has done volunteer work in various areas, mostly within the Dutch Reformed Church. For example, in the late nineties Rens founded and promoted the Financial Adoption Plan Wezep Hattemerbroek within the PKN church in Wezep. By this initiative some 25 children in developing countries are able to attend school and receive meals and medicines when necessary.
