Wim van Ieperen (Member of the General Committee)

Current employment:
-Assistant Professor Horticultural Production Chains

Wim van Ieperen holds a Masters degree in Plant Sciences, specialization Horticulture from Wageningen University and a Ph.D. from Wageningen University. He wrote his doctoral thesis on short-term optimalisation of salinity levels in high-tech glasshouse growth systems. After a short break of approximately 3 years, during which he worked for a brokers company in Agricultural Real Estate (Schelhaas Makelaardij),  he returned to the Horticultural Production Chains group of Wageningen University,  where he now is involved in academic research and teaching and supervision of mostly international students at MSc and PHd level.

Research areas include both 'in depth' environmental plant physiology as well as innovative developments in high-tech plant production systems.

Besides normal lecturing, Wim is co-initiator and project-leader of an innovative EU-project in academic master studies in Horticulture, which combines courses of nine Universities from different EU-countries into one intensive course. The course combines intensive teaching and coaching of selected MSc-students studying at different European Universities by an international network of university professors.

Social functions:
Together with his wife Karlan he coaches the student association Ichthus-Wageningen (mentor).
